According to a police spokesman, two groups of individuals engaged in a dispute and opened fire on each other in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old man and leaving a 55-year-old woman in critical condition.
The incident occurred on Jefferson Street during a morning parade celebrating Tennessee State University’s homecoming football game. Just before the game was set to begin, suspects with handguns opened fire at the intersection of Jefferson St & 27th Ave N. around 5 p.m. local time.
Police suspect that at least one of the injured individuals may have been involved in the gunfire. Some of the individuals currently at the hospital have had previous interactions with law enforcement, leading authorities to believe that they are making progress in their investigation.

While initial reports suggested an active shooter on campus, Tennessee State University clarified that the shooting occurred off-campus, with two separate incidents taking place in different locations.
