A shooting incident occurred in Joppatowne High School in Joppa, Maryland, where one teen shot another during a dispute in a school bathroom. The victim, a 15-year-old student, was airlifted to a hospital and is in serious condition. The shooter, a 16-year-old student, was apprehended shortly after fleeing the scene. The weapon used has not been recovered, and the suspect will be charged according to Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler.
Authorities emphasized that this was an isolated incident and not an active shooter situation. A parent-student reunification center was set up at a nearby church, and over 100 personnel responded to the high school located about 20 miles northeast of Baltimore.
This incident comes just two days after a 14-year-old student shot and killed four people at a high school near Atlanta.
