Waterloo, Iowa—A shooting near a park in Waterloo, Iowa resulted in two police officers being wounded and a suspect being killed on Sunday morning.
The circumstances surrounding the violence are currently being investigated by the State Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Special Agent Mike Krapfl.
Authorities responded to a report of a male with a gun in a neighborhood near Sullivan Park in Waterloo where the shooting occurred along a major street, according to Mr. Krapfl.
The two injured officers were transported to a local hospital, although their conditions are unknown at this time. The male suspect was fatally shot.
Investigators are still gathering information and have not yet had the opportunity to speak with the officers involved, Mr. Krapfl stated.
The Iowa DCI is leading the investigation into the shooting.
