A tragic incident occurred in Manhattan where a 38-year-old Brooklyn resident, Florian Oltmann, lost his life after being attacked by a moped-riding assailant. The attack took place last week, and despite fighting for his life, Oltmann succumbed to his injuries three days later, as announced by the police on Monday.
The unfortunate event unfolded when Oltmann and his 56-year-old friend were confronted by the moped driver after a collision on the sidewalk. The altercation escalated when the moped driver punched Oltmann’s friend, causing him to lose consciousness outside Rudy’s Bar and Grill on Ninth Avenue near West 44th Street around 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Following the initial assault, Oltmann intervened, only to be struck in the face by the assailant, leading to a fatal head injury when he hit the concrete pavement, according to the NYPD.
Oltmann was immediately rushed to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition and tragically passed away three days later.
His friend, hailing from Illinois, was fortunately in stable condition and was taken to Mount Sinai West for treatment, as per the authorities.
The perpetrator of this heinous crime fled the scene on his black moped and is currently evading law enforcement. Justice for Florian Oltmann is being sought as the investigation continues.
