Johnny Wactor, a former “General Hospital” actor, was fatally shot in May after encountering three individuals attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his parked car downtown. Los Angeles police carried out early morning raids on August 15 and arrested four suspects in connection with Wactor’s killing. Robert Barceleau, Sergio Estrada, and Leonel Gutierrez were booked on suspicion of murder, while Frank Olano was booked as an accessory.
Barceleau, Gutierrez, and Olano were held on $2 million bail, while there was no record of Estrada in the jail system. Micah Parker, a close friend of Wactor, revealed that Wactor’s mother was informed of the arrests and more details were expected to be released soon. The suspects were targeted based on fingerprints found on a floor jack used during the theft.
Television news footage showed police serving a warrant in South Los Angeles, focusing on a street gang involved in catalytic converter thefts. Neighbors reported receiving flyers about the investigation and shared concerns about the individuals targeted by the police. Wactor was shot while walking to his car after work, and the suspects shot him without provocation during the theft.
Relatives and friends gathered at City Hall to appeal for information about Wactor’s death. LAPD released surveillance photos of the suspects and the stolen vehicle they used to escape. Wactor, known for his role on “General Hospital,” was pronounced dead at the hospital. Anyone with information was urged to contact LAPD Central Station or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
