WESTMINSTER, Calif.—Four individuals believed to be part of a group responsible for numerous burglaries are currently in police custody as of Friday, July 12, after being apprehended following a police pursuit.
Information was received by detectives from the multi-agency task force L.A. IMPACT around 12:09 p.m. on Thursday indicating that a suspected burglary group was preparing to break into a residence in Westminster, as reported by the Westminster Police Department.
Once it was confirmed that the group had committed the burglary, task force detectives, with the assistance of the Westminster Police Department, followed the suspects in their vehicle onto the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway and Beach Boulevard. The suspects refused to comply with a traffic stop, prompting a police chase, stated Westminster PD Cmdr. Michael Harvey.
The suspect vehicle reportedly collided with another vehicle near Bushard Street and Heil Avenue in Fountain Valley. With support from numerous detectives and air assistance from the Anaheim Police Department, four burglary suspects were apprehended at the scene, Mr. Harvey noted.
The suspects sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospitals before being booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, felony evading, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of burglary tools and stolen property.
Another individual involved in the collision was also transported to a hospital for precautionary measures, Mr. Harvey added.
The group is suspected of being linked to multiple residential burglaries in the region. Detectives are currently examining several items discovered inside the vehicle and working to identify any additional potential victims, according to authorities.
Individuals with further information regarding the case are urged to contact Detective David Ramirez at 714-548-3805 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227, the Westminster Police Department’s detective bureau announced.
