Tragic news struck Newnan, Georgia, as six individuals, including three children, lost their lives in a devastating fire early Monday morning. The Coweta County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the children were aged 6, 12, and 13, while the oldest victim was in their 70s. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed yet.
Out of the 11 individuals present in the house, five survivors were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with severe injuries, as reported by Coweta County Fire Rescue.
Firefighters responded to the emergency at the residence just north of Newnan at 4:57 a.m. The blaze had engulfed over 50 percent of the home by the time the first unit arrived, with flames protruding from the roof, according to Coweta County fire officials.
Additionally, a Coweta County firefighter sustained minor injuries during the operation.
Authorities are collaborating with county and state fire marshals, as well as the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, to investigate the cause of the fire.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences for the tragic loss, urging everyone to keep the victims and their families in their thoughts and prayers. Newnan, located approximately 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, mourns the loss of these lives.

Coweta County Fire Rescue is working with county and state fire marshals and the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office to determine the cause, authorities said.
