The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is dedicated to apprehending these ‘dangerous criminals,’ as stated by a spokesperson from the agency.
On June 6, DPS announced the arrest of one of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted criminal illegal immigrants.
He was sought for parole violation related to a murder conviction.
Mr. Duran was considered “armed and dangerous” by DPS, citing a significant criminal record including homicide, burglary, and tampering with government records.
Since March 2023, he had been wanted after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Mr. Duran’s arrest resulted from investigative information, not a tip from Texas Crime Stoppers, so the $5,000 reward for his capture will not be distributed.
There are still nine other criminal illegal immigrants on Texas’ “10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants” list, as announced by Governor Greg Abbott on June 5.
10 Most Wanted List
Gov. Abbott introduced this initiative to enhance law enforcement’s ability to apprehend repeat offenders who illegally entered the United States and committed serious crimes in Texas.
The initiative offers cash rewards for information leading to the capture of the criminal aliens on the list, developed in collaboration with Texas DPS and funded by the governor’s Public Safety Office.
Gov. Abbott emphasized, “Texas is a law-and-order state, and with the help of our fellow Texans, we will ensure that the illegal immigrants on this list are taken off our streets and put behind bars to keep our communities safe.”
Most individuals on the new wanted list have multiple offenses, with six wanted for sex crimes against children.
