Security footage captured the moment a thief wearing a mask robbed a man at gunpoint inside an elevator of a building in East Harlem at the end of last month.
The incident took place at around 11:20 p.m. on May 28 in a residential building on First Avenue near East 124th Street, which is part of NYCHA’s Wagner Houses in East Harlem. The police released a video of the crime on Wednesday.
The suspect, wearing a black face mask and wired headphones, held a gun in one hand and appeared to grab the victim’s throat with the other hand, as shown in the footage.
The video shows the suspect taking a bag and a small package from the victim at one point, before returning them.
However, the thief did steal the victim’s cellphone, according to the police.Â
The victim did not sustain any injuries, as per the police.Â
