A Florida plastic surgeon has been arrested in connection with the death of his wife, who suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing cosmetic procedures performed by him. Reportedly, he delayed calling 911 for nearly 20 minutes as his wife passed away on the operating table.
Benjamin Jacob Brown, 41, surrendered to authorities on Monday after a warrant was issued charging him with second-degree felony homicide: manslaughter by culpable negligence in the death of his wife, Hillary Ellington Brown, 33, last November.
Emergency responders were called to Restore Plastic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, Fla., on Nov. 21, 2023, where they found Hillary in cardiac arrest and immediately transferred her to a local hospital. Despite being put on life support for a week, she tragically passed away.
An investigation by law enforcement, along with the District One Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office, led to the issuance of a warrant for Benjamin’s arrest.
An emergency restriction order for Benjamin’s medical license, filed by the Florida Department of Health, highlighted the events surrounding his wife’s death. Hillary was scheduled for multiple cosmetic procedures before going into cardiac arrest.
