LAS VEGAS—A tragic incident unfolded in an apartment complex near Las Vegas, where a man identified as 47-year-old Eric Adams fatally shot five people and critically injured a 13-year-old girl before taking his own life, according to authorities.
The North Las Vegas Police Department reported that officers located Adams on Tuesday morning in a neighborhood where he eventually committed suicide as they approached him. This came after a search that commenced following the shootings at separate apartment units the night before.
Efforts to reach Adams’ relatives for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Initial reports indicated that two women in their 40s and 50s were found dead in an apartment after authorities responded to a shooting incident on Monday night. Additionally, a teenage girl was rushed to the hospital with critical gunshot wounds, prompting officers to search for other potential victims nearby.
Tragically, the search led to the discovery of two women in their mid-20s and a man in his early 20s, all of whom had been fatally shot. The identities of the victims have not been released as of yet.
Following the discovery, authorities launched an overnight search for Adams, who was considered “armed and dangerous.”
Police were informed around 10 a.m. on Tuesday that Adams had been spotted at a business in North Las Vegas.
Upon arrival in the area, officers witnessed Adams with a firearm, fleeing into a nearby home’s backyard. Despite their attempts to apprehend him, Adams refused to surrender his weapon and tragically took his own life.
The motive behind the shootings remains unclear, with authorities labeling it an “isolated incident.” Requests for further details from a police department spokesperson went unanswered.
