Ireland’s prime minister expresses his deep shock over a tragic incident in Dublin that led to the death of a Canadian tourist from Montreal.
In a statement on July 3, Simon Harris condemned the death of Neno Dolmajian as “reprehensible” and “horrific,” informing the parliament that the case is now being treated as a murder investigation.
The national police of Ireland confirmed on July 2 that a man in his 40s passed away in the hospital following an assault involving multiple individuals on O’Connell St. and Cathal Brugha St. during the early hours of June 23.
Four men have been taken into custody in connection with the incident, with two of them facing charges.
While the victim’s identity has not been officially disclosed by the police, politicians and media outlets have identified him as a 41-year-old Canadian tourist.
Opposition leader Mary Lou McDonald revealed that Mr. Dolmajian succumbed to his injuries in the hospital with his family by his side and urged Mr. Harris to address issues related to anti-social behavior, drug trafficking, and gang activities in Dublin’s city center.
