SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.—A tragic incident occurred in San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of a man and woman in their 70s, along with their dog. The suspect involved in the incident was shot by an Orange County sheriff’s deputy, according to authorities.
Reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated that deputies were called to a “domestic incident” around 7:30 a.m. in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street.
Upon arriving at the San Juan Mobile Estates complex, deputies discovered the bodies of a 77-year-old man, a 79-year-old woman, and their deceased dog, as reported by sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Parrish.
During the investigation at the scene, a witness informed dispatchers that a man covered in blood was pursuing a maintenance worker nearby and had taken a golf cart, Mr. Parrish explained. Deputies later located the 41-year-old suspect, who had driven the golf cart along a bike trail to a location near Calle Arroyo. A confrontation ensued, leading to the suspect being shot by a deputy.
Details regarding whether the suspect was armed or the circumstances that led to the shooting were unclear. The suspect was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition, according to Mr. Parrish.
Mr. Parrish mentioned that there seems to be a familial connection between all individuals involved, although the specific relationship was still under investigation.
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed pending confirmation and notification of their relatives. Similarly, the suspect’s name has not been released due to the apparent connection to the victims, as per authorities.
