Brad Eldridge made the decision to leave his job in the agricultural industry to establish Parish Waterfowl Co., which serves as a café and woodworking shop in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The café is nestled on the serene riverside street where time seems to saunter at its own pace. Parish Waterfowl Co. is not just a business venture for Brad Eldridge, but a manifestation of his passion for creating custom duck calls.
The café, co-owned by Brad and his wife Callie, also serves as a woodworking shop where Brad meticulously carves out custom duck calls. The inspiration for his craft comes from his love for hunting and the social nature of ducks, which he likens to people seeking connections with others.
Having been an avid hunter since the age of 12, Brad initially used inexpensive duck calls before delving into the world of custom duck calls. It was during a weekend hunting fundraiser that he organized in support of a friend’s daughter that he realized his passion for making duck calls. The success of the event propelled him to learn the art of crafting these customized calls.
Brad’s dedication to his craft has allowed him to build a successful business, enabling him to leave his previous job and focus on his passion full-time. His faith in God plays a central role in his life, guiding him through his business endeavors and hunting adventures. Brad views his café and hunting trips as opportunities to share his testimony and connect with others on a deeper level.
Spending countless hours on my hands and knees in prayer, I have sought discernment in the back. Doors have opened and closed, but my faith in God has guided me to understand that it was all for a purpose.
Every Sunday, I tune in to my pastor’s sermon at the nondenominational Triumph Church through the mounted television in the café.
Wearing my “Fishers of Men” bracelet from a Christian retreat initiates conversations about faith with café visitors, sometimes leading to moments of prayer.
“I believe that using my platform to share my faith with others not only blesses the business but also helps lead people to Christ,” I shared.
For me, faith and business go hand in hand. My advice to others for success is to monetize their passions.
“Utilize the platform that your passion provides to bless others and guide them towards Christ,” I advised. “You will find blessings and fulfillment in your work, as well as control over your time, regardless of the outcome.”
