A man in India, Baburam Bhil, went on a violent crime spree to prove that he is alive after being declared dead by the government. He received a death certificate in his name and believed his property would be seized, as reported by News 18.
Attempting to correct the error, Bhil resorted to extreme measures to get the government’s attention. He entered a local school in Balotra armed with a knife and gasoline, taking hostages and stabbing three individuals, including school staff and a parent.
Hardayal, the Acting Headmaster, and teacher Suresh Kumar were seriously injured in the attack, as reported by WION. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in Jodhpur, and Bhil was apprehended by authorities.
Claiming that he feared the government would seize his property after receiving the death notice, Bhil orchestrated the attack at the school to be back in government records upon his arrest.
Prior to this incident, Bhil had committed other crimes in an attempt to be arrested, although the details of those crimes are unclear. The case is currently under investigation.
