The 115 companies recognized by Australia’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency collectively employ nearly 505,000 Australians. Established in 2012 to promote gender equality in Australian workplaces, the WGEA recently released its list of Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation holders. These include well-known companies such as Coles, Woolworths, Australian Super, Deloitte Australia, DLA Piper, and universities. Construction and real estate management firms like CPB Contractors, John Holland Group, Lifestyle Communities Ltd, Stockland, and Transurban also made the list.
WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge commended these organizations for their efforts to address gender inequality by implementing strategies to improve gender balance in leadership positions and tackle issues related to pay, recruitment, and promotion. She emphasized the commitment of these companies to create inclusive workplaces that allow all employees to reach their full potential.
Of the 115 organizations, eight are first-time applicants for the citation, while 81 are renewing their recognition. Most of the recognized companies are based in Victoria and New South Wales, with only one organization from the ACT making the list. The WGEA has temporarily suspended applications for the EOCGE citation to conduct a review aimed at assisting employers in meeting its requirements more effectively.
