A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday when a road rage altercation between a father and a passing motorcycle on the 210 Freeway in Highland turned deadly. The father, Aaron Harris, was driving his sedan with his two young children when they were side-swiped by the motorcyclist, Jonathan McConnell. In a series of events, the two men followed each other to a nearby bar where they engaged in a fatal gunfight, resulting in both of their deaths.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that McConnell attempted to split lanes and struck Harris’ car, leading to the confrontation. After following McConnell off the freeway, Harris arrived at a parking lot with his children in tow. The altercation escalated when Harris shouted threats from his car, prompting McConnell to approach. The situation quickly turned violent as both men exchanged gunfire, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds and their untimely deaths.
Authorities disclosed that an adult male nearby sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand during the altercation. Despite efforts to save them, both Harris and McConnell were pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Details regarding the whereabouts of Harris’s children remain uncertain, as a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department could not confirm their status.
