The victim of a shooting inside a Queens convenience store was trying to defend his girlfriend from two individuals when one of them opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured, according to a witness and surveillance video.
The distraught woman was seen embracing her boyfriend as he lay wounded on the floor inside One World Convenience in Richmond Hill on Monday night, as shown in the surveillance footage.
According to the store manager, the victim, a 34-year-old man who remains unidentified, was shot multiple times during the incident at the shop on Jamaica Avenue near 120th Street.
Video footage revealed that the suspects were trying to engage the victim’s girlfriend in conversation before the altercation took place.
The boyfriend confronted the individuals after his girlfriend had left the store, leading to a confrontation that escalated into violence.
The shooter pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the victim, who was struck and fell to the ground.
The suspects fled the scene, leaving the victim critically wounded and the girlfriend in distress.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday.
