The Crown is set to deliver its closing arguments today in the trial of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, organizers of the Freedom Convoy.
Lich and Barber are facing charges related to their involvement in the protests that took over downtown Ottawa for almost three weeks in early 2022.
The charges against them include mischief, intimidation, and inciting others to break the law. Barber is also accused of urging others to disobey a court order.
The Crown has alleged that their actions during the demonstrations crossed the line into criminal behavior. The protests, which attracted thousands of people and trucks, were a response to pandemic restrictions and government policies.
The protesters were eventually removed from the streets in a large-scale police operation.
The Crown is also arguing that evidence against one of the accused should be considered against both, as their actions were coordinated.
