Disturbing footage captured the moments before a nurse was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in Seattle while he was high on drugs, according to officials.
Andy Chu, 26, admitted to killing his girlfriend Zoey Suyun He while she was visiting from Hawaii over the weekend, as reported by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Chu reportedly twisted her neck, held her underwater in a bathtub, and inflicted blunt force trauma to her head, face, neck, chest, and limbs. An autopsy also revealed a golf ball lodged in her throat, KOMO News reported.
Security camera footage from a neighbor showed Chu and the victim entering the townhome with groceries on August 9.
The following day, Chu was seen leaving the house alone, pulling something from under his shirt as he exited the home, Fox 13 reported.
Subsequently, Chu’s erratic behavior led friends to take him to a hospital where he was admitted.
Police and firefighters found He’s body in Chu’s flooded townhome on August 10 after neighbors reported water flowing out of the residence.
Authorities discovered the victim with a cut on her throat, covered in blood, with an ice pack on her throat and a small block supporting her head.
Chu was arrested at the University of Washington Medical Center for assaulting a nurse and was later taken into custody.
Chu admitted to taking drugs and recalled choking his girlfriend and holding her underwater in the tub. He attempted bizarre methods to revive her, including sprinkling Acai powder and placing a ball in her mouth.
He confessed to dating He since January and shared that she had just arrived from Hawaii, where they attended the same high school, KHON reported.
He, originally from China, was previously employed at the Hawaii State Capitol during the 2022 legislative session.
Chu is facing charges of first-degree murder and assault. His bail has been set at $5 million, and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 28.
