Reports suggest that there are Iranian efforts to prevent former President Donald Trump from returning to office. These efforts include the serious threat of direct assassination as well as malicious influence operations through cyber and social media.

FBI Investigates Iranian Cyber-attacks Against Trump Campaign
In the 2024 presidential election, there are allegations of a significant and harmful foreign election interference campaign orchestrated by Iran. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the FBI, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a joint statement squarely accusing Iran of attempting to use cyber methods to infiltrate the Trump campaign.

The statement noted, in part: “The Intelligence Community (IC) has previously indicated that Iran views this year’s elections as particularly significant in terms of the potential impact on its national security interests, heightening Tehran’s desire to influence the outcome. We have observed escalating aggressive Iranian actions during this election cycle, specifically involving influence operations targeting the American public and cyber operations targeting presidential campaigns.”
