With bipartisan support, Republicans aim to expedite the passage of over 30 bills focused on safeguarding farmland, trade secrets, and critical infrastructure. The House of Representatives plans to kick off its fall session with a “China Week” upon returning to Washington, as Speaker Mike Johnson’s office has published legislation targeting China’s predatory practices. The Republican leadership has been working on these bills for some time, with hopes of passing a significant package of China-related legislation by the end of the year. The bills cover issues on which both parties agree and involve procedural changes that are less controversial. The fast-tracking process, requiring two-thirds of Congress members’ votes, aims to limit debate to 40 minutes. However, the likelihood of the Senate passing the same legislation remains uncertain.
The lawmaker’s office remains hopeful that the bill will successfully pass through the House during the upcoming vote next week, as shared with The Epoch Times.
