A troubled apartment complex in Colorado, taken over by the violent Venezuelan migrant gang Tren de Aragua, is set to be sold by landlord Zev Baumgarten.
Baumgarten has been in a legal battle with the city of Aurora over the Aspen Grove complex, which the city accused of becoming a trash-ridden, gang-infested area.
Another apartment complex owned by Baumgarten was the scene of a viral video showing gun-toting thugs breaking into a unit.
Following the closure of the Aspen Grove complex in August, displacing 300 residents, Baumgarten’s company has agreed to sell, lease, or find a similar disposition for the property.
Nome Partners LLC, Baumgarten’s company, is also responsible for cleaning up the site.
The dismal state of Aspen Grove has been attributed to a takeover by Tren de Aragua, according to Baumgarten’s company.
Police were aware of the gang problem at Aspen Grove for nearly a year before it was deemed a criminal nuisance and residents were evicted.
In June, letters were sent to police and local officials seeking help with Tren de Aragua’s control of Aspen Grove.
Last month, a separate video showed gang members breaking into another apartment complex owned by Baumgarten.
Baumgarten is facing over 80 charges for building code violations at his properties, including vermin infestations and power outages.
Prosecutors noted that a second Baumgarten-owned complex, Fitzsimons Place, also had code violations and had been overrun by migrant gang members.
Aurora, a suburb of Denver, has experienced fallout from the gang violence, with residents reporting shootouts and criminal activity tied to Tren de Aragua.
