CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.—A delay in the first private spacewalk has pushed back billionaire tech entrepreneur Jared Isaacman’s plans as SpaceX postponed Thursday’s spacewalk by a few hours.
Isaacman and his crew, who launched into orbit on Tuesday for a five-day flight, were gearing up for the historic event when SpaceX announced the delay just an hour before the scheduled start time.
Although no specific reason was provided, SpaceX reassured that “all systems are looking good.”
During the spacewalk, Isaacman and a SpaceX engineer will take turns exiting their capsule hundreds of miles above Earth, while two other crew members will remain strapped in their seats.
The mission, a collaboration between Isaacman and SpaceX, marks the first commercial spacewalk to trial new spacesuit technology.
