The University of Colorado football field was the scene of a chaotic incident involving a shirtless driver, Karl E. Haglund, who went on a joyride rampage, crashing into multiple vehicles and nearly hitting a bystander. The reckless driver, a Massachusetts resident, drove erratically, hitting cars, trees, and signs near Folsom Field in Boulder. Witnesses tried to stop Haglund from leaving the scene, but he fled, narrowly missing a bystander in the process.
Boulder police pursued Haglund as he continued his destructive path, eventually ramming his truck into the gates of Folsom Field and driving onto the football field. After causing extensive damage to the field, Haglund surrendered to police, ending the dangerous joyride. He was arrested and faces a multitude of charges, including criminal attempt vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief.
Thankfully, there was no threat to anyone on campus, and the University of Colorado spokesperson confirmed that no one was injured during the incident. The school will repair the damage to the field caused by Haglund’s actions before the next home game on September 21. The Colorado Buffaloes are currently away for a game against the Colorado State Rams and will not need the field until their next home game.
