Two teenagers, one of whom was wearing a distinctive pink shower-cap-like bonnet, were arrested for taking an empty train on a joyride in Queens and crashing it, according to police.
The 17-year-olds, who were not named due to their age, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment in connection to the incident at the Briarwood subway station on September 12.
Authorities stated that the teens boarded the train around midnight and operated it for a short distance before the crash occurred.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Footage of the suspects walking through the train car was released by the police in the days following the incident.
Additionally, the girl was wearing a pink crop top, hotpants, and carrying a pink bag in the video.
The boy was dressed in a blue tank top, red shorts, and had a black backpack.
While the girl turned herself in with a family member, it is unclear how the boy was apprehended by the police.
It remains unknown how the teenagers gained access to the train and managed to operate it.
