The International Longshoremen’s Association union, which represents 45,000 workers at major container ports spanning from Texas to Maine, is facing the possibility of a strike on Oct. 1. This looming strike comes as the union races against the clock to negotiate a new deal with the United States Maritime Alliance before their current six-year contract expires at the stroke of midnight on Sept. 30.
