On October 20, former President Donald Trump made an appearance at the primetime game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets.
The Steelers had announced the presence of the 45th president and 2024 GOP presidential nominee the day before, ensuring security measures would be in place, although specifics were not disclosed.
The suite holder’s identity was not revealed, and no endorsement of any presidential candidate was made by the team.
The team emphasized maintaining the usual fan experience for all attendees and encouraged fans to arrive early to enjoy pregame activities and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl IX team.
In Super Bowl IX, the Steelers emerged victorious over the Minnesota Vikings with a score of 16–6, securing their first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Trump campaign did not provide a response upon request for comment.
On the Jets’ side, Davante Adams made his debut after being acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The duo had previously proven to be a formidable pair on the Green Bay Packers.
During his speech, Brown stated, “Donald Trump, he knows success, and he knows what it takes to make America great again. And to be real, we have all experienced highs and lows. Especially me, in my career as a Super Bowl champion and life as a father to seven amazing children.”
This event was not the first time Trump attended a football game during the campaign trail.
Prior to this, Trump had been present at the University of Alabama versus University of Georgia game.
As president, Trump also attended football games, such as the annual match between the U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Naval Academy in December 2019.
