A man arrested for the death of his 84-year-old mother
A man has been arrested and charged with the death of his 84-year-old mother, more than a year after police found her deceased in her Upper West Side home, as per cops and sources.
Edward Asencio, 51, was taken into custody on Thursday and faces charges of manslaughter and second-degree assault for allegedly killing his mother, Ana Asencio. Her lifeless body was discovered in her W. 93 St. apartment at 9:57 p.m. on July 17, 2023, according to the police.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the death to be a homicide in January, six months after the incident.
Police found the victim after responding to a 911 call, with first responders pronouncing her dead at the scene.
The victim, who had a pacemaker, had bruising on most of her face when she was found, according to sources.
No arrests had been made until Thursday.
