The quick-thinking actions of a 14-year-old girl helped police catch a potential predator in Glendale, Arizona. The girl gave the man her mother’s cell phone number instead of her own, leading him to unknowingly exchange graphic text messages with undercover cops. The incident occurred when the girl crossed the road in front of Isaiah Navarro’s car, and he tried to strike up a conversation with her. When the man persistently asked for her number, she cleverly input her mother’s number instead. Navarro later contacted the mother’s phone, thinking it was the teen, but the police had already taken over. Detectives engaged in conversation with Navarro, pretending to be the girl, and he made inappropriate requests without realizing he was interacting with law enforcement. He even attempted to meet up with the teen, leading to his arrest. The Glendale Police Department praised the girl for her bravery and quick thinking. Navarro was charged with luring a minor for sexual exploitation and is currently in custody on a $250K bond.
