A devastating storm named Boris wreaked havoc in Eastern Europe starting on September 13, causing unprecedented destruction. The Czech Republic’s Northern Moravia region received a record-breaking 500 mm (20 inches) of rainfall, leading to severe flooding. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala referred to it as a “once-in-a-century flood,” with rivers overflowing and submerging entire villages. Thousands were evacuated, homes were left without power, and the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of the Czech Republic responded to the crisis in the town of JesenĂk, one of the hardest-hit areas.
Working alongside town officials and first responders, the Volunteer Ministers helped assess the damage and began the challenging task of recovery once the floodwaters receded. They assisted in clearing homes and businesses from mud, removing mold and mildew, and even disposing of contaminated food items. Additionally, they provided emotional and spiritual support to residents, offering Scientology assists to address stress and trauma.
Recognized for their efforts, the Volunteer Ministers were praised by a JesenĂk official who referred to them as the “yellow angels” for their kindness and assistance during the crisis.
