In two recent rulings, the Supreme Court has rejected Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s requests for injunctions to have his name removed from the ballots in Wisconsin and Michigan. RFK Jr, who was running for President as an independent, decided to withdraw from the race and endorse Donald Trump. He now wants to be taken off the ballot in swing states to avoid drawing votes away from Trump, but his attempts in Wisconsin and Michigan were unsuccessful.
The decision in Wisconsin had no dissenting opinions, but Justice Gorsuch dissented in the Michigan case. His dissent referenced the opinions of Judges Thapar, Readler, and McKeague in the Kennedy v. Benson case.
Trump reportedly mentioned that if re-elected, he would allow RFK Jr. to focus on health and food issues. This statement was made during a rally at Madison Square Garden.
RFK Jr’s controversial views on public health have been a topic of discussion in the past. In 2008, there were speculations about him being considered for the role of EPA Administrator in the Obama Administration, but he was deemed “too controversial.”
