Canadian authorities have successfully dismantled what they describe as the largest and most advanced illicit drug “superlab” in the country. Police believe that organized crime was behind the operation, which involved the mass production and distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine within Canada and internationally.
Last week, officers executed search warrants at the drug lab located in Falkland, B.C., in the southern Interior, as well as at associated sites in Surrey, in Metro Vancouver.
The authorities seized a significant amount of illegal substances, including 54 kilograms of fentanyl, large quantities of precursor chemicals, 390 kilograms of methamphetamine, and smaller amounts of cocaine, MDMA, and cannabis. Additionally, they discovered 89 firearms, which included handguns, AR-15-style rifles, and submachine-guns, along with small explosive devices, ammunition, silencers, high-capacity magazines, body armor, and $500,000 in cash.
Following the operation, a suspect named Gaganpreet Randhawa was arrested and is currently in custody, facing multiple drug and firearms-related charges.
Fentanyl is a key component in many of the deadly illicit drugs responsible for the deaths of almost 48,000 individuals in Canada between January 2016 and March 2024, as reported by the federal government.
