Former President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against CBS in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The lawsuit demands at least $10 billion in damages and a jury trial. Trump is accusing CBS of “election and voter interference” over its interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic opponent.
The interview, which aired on “60 Minutes,” was deemed “misleading” and “deceptively doctored” according to the court filing. Trump’s legal team claims that CBS engaged in “substantial news distortion” to boost the Democrats in the 2024 election.
In response to the lawsuit, CBS issued a statement explaining that the editing of the interview was done to be clear, accurate, and on point. The network also clarified that Trump had initially agreed to an interview with “60 Minutes” but later declined.
The Trump campaign has not yet provided a comment on the lawsuit, while a CBS News spokesperson has denied the accusations and stated that the lawsuit is without merit.
