Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband found themselves in a frightening situation when masked burglars broke into a London mansion they were staying in back in February 2023. They had to lock themselves in a closet to stay safe during the incident.
At the time, Taylor-Joy, 28, was with her musician husband Malcolm McRae, 30, and McRae’s bandmate Kane Ritchotte at a residence owned by another celebrity who was not present during the break-in.
The burglars attempted to enter the bedrooms of Taylor-Joy and the others after smashing a glass pane to gain entry. Thankfully, they left empty-handed, and the trio was left shaken but unharmed.
A suspect, Kirk Holdrick, 42, was arrested and charged with the burglary. He pleaded not guilty and is currently in prison awaiting trial.
Holdrick had previously made headlines in 2022 for dating Hannah Voyan, a former cast member of the British reality TV show Towie.
Another accomplice is still at large in connection to the burglary.
A reporting restriction on the case was lifted at the Wood Green Crown Court in North London on Nov. 3, as reported by The Sun.
The break-in was reported to the Met Police, who analyzed CCTV footage and conducted forensic checks at the property.
Taylor-Joy gained fame for her role in “The Queen’s Gambit” in 2020 and most recently impressed in the dystopian action thriller “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”
