Two individuals were attacked – one of them during a dispute over a seat with a teenager, and a trespasser was apprehended with a loaded rifle in a series of subway incidents on Tuesday, as per police reports.
At around 3:20 p.m., a 52-year-old man and 19-year-old Chrisena Chambers got into an argument over seating on a northbound No. 6 train at Lexington Avenue and East 51st Street. Chambers reportedly slashed the man on the left side of his face near his ear.
Chambers was arrested at the East 125th Street station in Harlem and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment.
Later that evening, a man slashed a woman at the 125th Street station at St. Nicholas Avenue. The victim was taken to the hospital and described as an adult in stable condition. The attacker fled the scene and remains at large.
In a separate incident, a man was found with a loaded rifle in a Bronx subway station. Abraham Sosa, 20, was arrested for trespassing and charged with multiple weapon possession offenses, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer.
Overall, felony crimes in the city’s transit system have decreased this year, but there has been an increase in murders and shootings on the rails. Gun arrests have also risen compared to the previous year.
