A Chicago teenager lost vision in one eye after being targeted in a random Halloween paintball attack by a group of individuals driving down her street.
Vicky Murillo, 19, and her friend were followed by a car as they walked through the Clearing West community. The car made a U-turn, drove back to the teens, and shot them with a “high-pressured” paintball gun, causing multiple injuries.
Murillo and her friend were left bleeding on the ground before being taken to the hospital for treatment.
She underwent emergency surgery on her eye, but doctors are unsure if her vision will return. Several surgeries are scheduled for her injuries, with the family hoping for the best outcome.
Similar incidents involving paintball attacks occurred in other parts of the city on the same night. Videos shared online show the perpetrators targeting unsuspecting victims with multiple shots.
Murillo’s family is working with detectives to identify the shooter responsible for her injuries, hoping for severe charges to be brought against the suspect.
