O’Brien, known for his work on late-night talk shows like “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Conan,” expressed excitement about the opportunity in a statement released on Friday.
While this will be O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars, he has experience emceeing other major awards shows such as the Emmy Awards and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The broadcast is set to air live on ABC on March 2, 2025.
O’Brien’s addition to the list of Oscar hosts, which includes names like Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, and Chris Rock, has been met with enthusiasm. Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, praised O’Brien’s comedic talents and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the show.
Before his successful television career, O’Brien worked as a writer for popular shows like “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons.” His transition to hosting has been well-received by audiences and industry professionals alike.
