Details Emerge About Parents of Murdered Colorado Teen Amanda Overstreet
More information has surfaced about the parents of Amanda Overstreet, the Colorado teen whose severed head and hands were found in a freezer in January, more than 15 years after she was last seen alive.
Overstreet’s late stepfather, Bradley Imer, had a history of run-ins with the police, as confirmed by online court records. In 2002, Arizona authorities arrested him for drug possession, trafficking, and driving under the influence after finding methamphetamine and eight illegal guns in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Imer, who passed away from COVID complications in 2021, reached a plea deal with the state and received probation, with eight of the nine counts against him dropped.
Overstreet’s mother, Leanne Imer, 56, also had previous legal issues. She lost custody of Amanda when she was just 3 years old due to neglect and abuse allegations. Additionally, while living in Texas, Leanne was accused of stealing from her relatives, as reported by the DailyMail.
Leanne allegedly abused her power of attorney over her father to acquire his property and collect money from his bank accounts using forged documents. However, she was never criminally charged for these alleged actions.
A real estate investor clearing out Leanne Imer’s former hoarder home in Grand Junction discovered Amanda’s detached hands and head earlier this year, about 240 miles west of Denver. DNA testing later confirmed the body parts belonged to Amanda Overstreet.
Leanne Imer reportedly told family members that Amanda ran away at a truck stop in Amarillo, Texas, but the teen was never reported missing to the police. Authorities have not revealed how they believe Amanda died, and no arrests have been made in connection to her death.
Leanne Imer was unavailable for comment when reached on Saturday.
