WEDDINGTON, N.C.—A house explosion and fire in suburban Charlotte, North Carolina left two people injured, according to authorities.
On Sunday morning, reports came in of an explosion at a home in Weddington that was felt across Union County, as stated by the sheriff’s office. First responders discovered severe damage to part of the home.
A man who was inside during the explosion sustained burns and was transported to a hospital in Winston-Salem, where he was reported to be in stable condition Sunday night, officials confirmed. His wife was also treated at a hospital and later discharged, with both individuals expected to make a full recovery.
County officials indicated that the explosion was likely accidental, but the investigation is ongoing.
