The Tragic Loss of Three Innocent New Yorkers
Three New Yorkers lost their lives in a senseless act of violence by a knife-wielding attacker, leaving the community in shock and mourning. The victims were remembered as a kind construction worker, an avid fisherman, and a devoted mother.
The perpetrator, identified as Ramon Rivera, 51, allegedly carried out the Manhattan stabbing spree in broad daylight, targeting innocent individuals going about their daily lives.
Angel Gustavo Lata-Landi, 36, a construction worker, was the first victim. He was waiting for a ride home from a work site when he was fatally stabbed. Described as a quiet and kind individual, his tragic death has left the community devastated.
Chang Wang, 67, was the second victim, killed while fishing in the East River. A makeshift memorial with a candle and fishing hook now stands at the spot where he lost his life.
Wilma Augustin, 36, the third victim, was stabbed near the United Nations building and later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. She was a single mother, leaving behind an 8-year-old child.
The community is reeling from the loss of these individuals and seeking justice for their untimely deaths. Mayor Eric Adams expressed sorrow for the families affected by this tragedy and highlighted the impact on Augustin’s young child.
