Paul Bernardo, a notorious killer, has been denied parole for the third time by the Parole Board of Canada. The board expressed concerns about his risk of sexual recidivism and his narcissistic personality disorder, citing the violent nature of his crimes.
Bernardo, a dangerous offender, is serving a life sentence for the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy in the 1990s near St. Catharines, Ont.
During the hearing at the La Macaza Institution in Quebec, where Bernardo is held, the victims’ families opposed his release, stating they are re-traumatized by his parole hearings. The board deliberated for about 30 minutes before reaching its decision.
