Disney World is bidding farewell to Muppet*Vision 3D, a long-standing attraction since 1991, to make way for Monstropolis, an experience based on “Monsters, Inc.” that was announced in April.
The Muppets will no longer be a main attraction at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, as Monstropolis takes over their spot. The Walt Disney Company revealed on Nov. 22 that Walt Disney World’s Muppet*Vision 3D, the last Muppet-themed attraction at any U.S. Disney Park, will be transformed into the new Monstropolis. This “Monsters, Inc.” experience was announced earlier in the year.
Despite the departure of the Muppets from Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida, the company plans to incorporate the characters into a new ride in the park and integrate other elements of Muppets Courtyard in different ways.
The iconic characters like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be moving to Sunset Boulevard, while the Muppets will also be part of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster experience, teaming up with music stars for a lively music festival.
Muppet*Vision 3D has been a staple at Hollywood Studios since 1991, and the area also features PizzeRizzo, a pizzeria named after the Muppets character Rizzo the Rat.
The Muppets had an attraction at Disney’s California Adventure which closed in 2014 to make room for a “Frozen” sing-along. The live performance show “The Muppets Present…Great Moments in American History” was last seen at the Magic Kingdom in 2019.
Construction on the “Monsters, Inc.” land at Disney World is set to begin in 2025. Disney has not confirmed when the last Muppet shows will take place or when they will join the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The company stated that there is still time to enjoy the attractions before they are replaced.
Fans of the Muppets have expressed disappointment over the changes, particularly because Muppet*Vision 3D was one of the last projects Jim Henson worked on before his passing in 1990. A petition to save the attraction has gathered over 5,000 signatures.
Disney is working on ways to incorporate the Muppets into future experiences, stating that they are exploring ways to preserve elements of the Muppet*Vision 3D for fans to enjoy.
The announcement of Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, based on “Monsters, Inc.,” was met with mixed reactions from fans, with some hoping for more Muppet-themed experiences. The Jim Henson Company expressed excitement for the next chapter of Muppet*Vision 3D.
Jim Henson’s creation of “The Muppet Show” in 1976 and the iconic Muppet movies have left a lasting legacy. Disney acquired the IP from the Jim Henson Company in 2004, leading to various Muppet reboots and appearances in films and streaming shows.
Overall, the changes at Disney World reflect a shifting landscape of attractions, with the Muppets making way for new experiences like Monstropolis while still remaining beloved characters in the hearts of fans. Please rewrite the following sentence:
