Four Connecticut Democrat lawmakers’ residences received bomb threats, leading to investigations and law enforcement responses. Representatives Jahana Hayes, Jim Himes, John Larson, and Joe Courtney from Connecticut reported that their homes were targeted on Thanksgiving. No bombs were found by law enforcement, and no arrests have been made.
Hayes stated that she was informed by Wolcott Police Chief Edward Stephens about a threatening email claiming a pipe bomb was placed in her mailbox. She commended the swift response of law enforcement and condemned political violence. Himes expressed gratitude for the quick actions of the United States Capitol Police, Greenwich Police Department, and Stamford Police Department in response to the threat at his home.
Larson thanked law enforcement for ensuring his safety and the safety of his colleagues in the Connecticut Congressional Delegation. Courtney’s spokesperson mentioned that the lawmaker was celebrating Thanksgiving at home with family when police notified him of a bomb threat. They appreciated the response of law enforcement officers.
The incidents targeting the Connecticut lawmakers came after bomb threats and swatting attempts against President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees. Trump transition team spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt revealed that Trump Cabinet nominees and incoming administration officials faced violent threats. The FBI confirmed awareness of these incidents and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement promptly.
