A Georgia Cop Charged with DUI After Bizarre Traffic Incident
A Georgia cop who was once awarded “Deputy of the Year” was charged with DUI this month after allegedly attempting to direct traffic on a street with no cars, according to authorities.
On November 19, Houston County Sheriff’s deputy Garrison Page was found acting strangely outside an elementary school with an open can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade in his patrol vehicle, as per police documents obtained by local outlets.
Witnesses called authorities after seeing Page in plain clothes unsteadily directing traffic at Skyview Elementary School around 9 a.m., the incident report revealed.
Page was reported to be slurring his speech and smelling of alcohol, with his patrol vehicle also present at the scene.
When a responding Bibb County Sheriff’s deputy approached, Page started walking away and entered the oncoming turning lane of the roadway.
A county Board of Education officer who interacted with Page stated that the cop appeared intoxicated while directing traffic in an area with no cars.
Upon searching Page’s patrol vehicle, authorities found an open can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and an unopened can of Natural Light in a black bag.
Page allegedly resisted when deputies tried to draw blood from him after his arrest.
Page had earned the title of “Deputy of the Year” while working for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in 2019.
He had only been working for Houston County for eight days before the incident, leading to his suspension pending possible termination.
