An Uber Eats driver got into a physical altercation with two sisters outside their Bronx jewelry store on Thanksgiving Eve. The incident escalated when the delivery driver refused to bring the sisters’ order inside the store, leading to a confrontation that turned violent, according to the victims and police.
Camila Abreu, 18, and her sister Stiverlyn Abreu, 22, had ordered $68 worth of food and paper products to their store in Kingsbridge Heights. When the driver refused to bring the items inside, Camila went outside to address the situation, which further agitated the driver.
The driver made threatening remarks and eventually took the sisters’ groceries and tried to leave. The sisters followed him as their store keys were in one of the bags. The situation escalated, resulting in the driver hitting Stiverlyn multiple times, causing her to fall to the ground. Camila also attempted to defend her sister but ended up getting punched as well.
Stiverlyn suffered a concussion and had to be hospitalized briefly. The Uber driver fled with their order, leaving the sisters physically and emotionally shaken. Uber condemned the driver’s behavior and revoked his access to the platform.
The incident left the sisters traumatized, with Stiverlyn avoiding going outside due to fear of a potential retaliation. The NYPD has released surveillance footage of the suspect and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
Authorities describe the suspect as about 5-foot-9, with long braided hair and a beard, last seen wearing a blue Yankee hat, blue jacket, blue jeans, and white and black sneakers. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.
