Television actor Wayne Northrop, known for his roles in “Dynasty” and “Days of Our Lives,” passed away at 77 years old on Nov. 29 after a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He died surrounded by his family at the Motion Picture and Television Woodland Hills Home in Los Angeles, California.
Northrop, born in 1947 in Sumner, Washington, graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in communications before pursuing acting. He made his television debut in an episode of “Police Story” and went on to appear in various shows such as “The Waltons,” “Baretta,” and “The Young Riders.”
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Northrop gained recognition for his role as Roman Brady on “Days of Our Lives.” He also portrayed Michael Culhane on the first season of “Dynasty” and made appearances on shows like “Hotel,” “Cold Case,” and “L.A. Law.”
Outside of his acting career, Northrop was married to actress Lynn Herring and together, they ran a cattle ranch in Raymond, California, focusing on wildlife and conservation efforts. They also transformed the town’s oldest home into a museum and historical site for visitors.
Northrop is survived by his wife Lynn, their sons, and stepmother Janet Northrop. He will be remembered for his humor, wit, and his dedication to his family and friends.
