32,000 people marched through London, organized by the Campaign Against Antisemitism, urging authorities to address anti-Jewish hate “before it’s too late.”
Since the Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel, the Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) claims that successive governments have failed to combat the rising anti-Semitism.
The CAA emphasized the unprecedented levels of antisemitism and growing extremism in British society, urging authorities to take action against anti-Jewish hatred.
During the march, CAA Chief Executive Gideon Falter highlighted incidents contributing to the worsening anti-Semitism in the UK, including takeovers of university campuses by protesters, Jewish people concealing their identity on public transport, and physical abuse of Jewish school children.
Responding to the CAA’s concerns, a government spokesperson stated that anti-Semitism has no place in society and reiterated the commitment to address it in collaboration with law enforcement and community partners.
The spokesperson also emphasized the importance of peaceful protest while condemning hate and extremism, especially during times of conflict in the Middle East.
Anti-Semitism Tripled
Data from groups like the Community Security Trust (CST) have shown a significant increase in anti-Semitic incidents, particularly following the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The CST attributed the spike in incidents to the Israel-Hamas conflict, with a surge in anti-Jewish hatred following the terror attack.
The CST’s report highlighted the surge in campus-related anti-Semitic incidents, with a significant increase following the Israel-Hamas conflict, underscoring the need to address and combat anti-Jewish hatred in all forms.
The government’s independent adviser on anti-Semitism, Lord John Mann, expressed concern over the increasing levels of anti-Semitism on university campuses as reported by the CST.
Mann highlighted that he has put forward recommendations to address anti-Jewish sentiment within universities, which are currently under consideration by the government.
He emphasized his ongoing collaboration with CST and UJS to create a safe and inclusive environment for Jewish students on campus, free from discrimination and prejudice.
