A stranger followed a 26-year-old woman before beating and raping her in a brutal Wednesday morning Bronx attack, according to the police.
The victim was walking on Virginia Avenue near Wood Avenue in Parkchester around 3:30 a.m. as the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Gregory Williams, trailed behind her, authorities said.
The alleged predator then ambushed her with multiple punches to the right side of her body before raping her, as reported by the police.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to the police.
Williams, a resident of the Bronx, reportedly fled the scene after the attack but was apprehended around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, police confirmed.
He has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape, as well as third-degree assault, third-degree sexual abuse, and second-degree harassment, according to the NYPD.
Williams, dressed in a black hoodie and red and black pajama pants, remained silent as he was escorted out of an NYPD station house by detectives on Wednesday night.
