A$AP Rocky is currently embroiled in a significant legal battle.
The rapper is facing trial on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in connection to an alleged 2021 shooting incident in Hollywood. He has declined a plea deal from the prosecution, choosing to defend himself in court.
Rocky, 36, is accused of shooting at Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, who claims the shots “grazed his knuckles.”
The prosecution offered Rocky a deal to plead guilty to one of the two felony counts in exchange for a recommended 180 days in jail and three years of probation, which he turned down.
According to “True Crime News” host Ana Garcia, Rocky’s decision to go to trial could be a risky move, as it depends on the strength of the prosecution’s evidence and the jury’s decision-making.
Garcia emphasized that individuals who believe in their innocence often opt for a trial to prove their innocence, but this doesn’t guarantee the outcome.
Rocky’s lawyers also raised concerns about the lack of African American representation in the jury selection process, pointing out the disparity between the jury pool demographics and the population of the area.
As the trial continues, Rocky potentially faces up to 24 years in prison if found guilty.
